Startups That Stood Out to Me This Year
Updated: Feb 8
During the busy event, I found a hack to talk to people: talk to people who are bored. The best way to find these people? The ones standing in long queues. I'm kind of proud of this idea because I spoke to a lot of people and got interesting facts, their experiences, their likes and dislikes. During one of these conversations, they told me about the startup that impressed them or the idea they really loved.
The Algorithm Perfume Line

AIrest was mentioned to me a couple of times, but the first time was when I was waiting in line to get an algorithm perfume by Amazon Ads.
(Amazon Ads had this booth where they created a custom scent based on a survey you filled out. 300+ possible scents. The survey had psychology questions, social behavior and time-based questions.)
The wait was long. I started chatting with the person next to me. AIrest build a better security camera through the role of surveillance. Most cameras record incidents after they happen. Their model attempts to detect risk in real time and intervene before escalation. The shift is subtle but important: from documentation to prevention. http://airest.ai/ The Lost Investors
The next startup was AetherMind. When I was a volunteer, a group of investors asked me to point the way to this particular startup. After my shift, I took a look. It was quite interesting—AetherMind removes the cloud entirely from their AI model. No connectivity required. In a world where everything assumes you're online, they're building for independence first. A small flash drive replaced the cloud. https://www.aethermind.qa/ Speed Networking Round
Three minutes. One person. Bell rings. Next.
I met a doctor. Asked her what healthcare startup impressed her most.
She mentioned two:
Antibiotics Match: antibiotic prescriptions are often educated guesswork. That guesswork fuels resistance. They connect regional resistance data to prescription decisions. Less guessing, fewer consequences. http://www.antibioticsmatch.com/
Birth4Cast: models fetal positioning and maternal anatomy ahead of time. Instead of handling obstetric emergencies when complications appear, they shift the decision window earlier. Time as a design variable. http://birth4cast.com/
The last startup is my personal favorite because it focus on greenwashing, I've written an article about it (Read more: https://wix.to/C4caHK4) and this startup’s approach directly addresses that problem.
CinSOIL measures soil carbon through satellite imaging rather than traditional lab testing. In a market saturated with carbon offset claims, verification becomes the real value proposition. The company doesn't sell sustainability; it sells measurable proof. https://cinsoil.eu/
I have listed out a few startups that is innovative, these are not my top 5, but defiantly my top 10
Be My Sense: Aim to empower Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals with seamless communication solutions. Through real-time translation, AI-powered assistance, and smart wearables. https://bemysense.com/
Effectual Learning: Empower your learning & training goals with personalized insights and real world interactive 3D modules- STEM Experience. https://effectuall.com/
Umorie Graphene Technologies: Deep-tech company developing graphene-enhanced batteries and fleet-grade electric motorcycles engineered for hot and tropical climates. http://www.umorie-ev.com/
I've shared startups that is not the flashiest ones, just the ones that made me pause a little. Already looking forward to next year. :)
